I have recently started making wearable textile artworks inspired by military armour. The textiles from which these artworks are made are inspired by eczematous skin, and are made from silk and silver yarn. There are a number of functional and structural similarities between armour, textiles and skin. The main similarity is that they all have a protective function. They also allow flexibility and movement, have surface texture and patterning, and layered composition.
